Utilization of simulation technology for diesel engine development in Niigata

该论文已在赫尔辛基举行的第28届CIMAC大会上发表,论文的版权归CIMAC所有。Recently, the diesel engines have been developed to meet the needs from the awareness of the importance of protecting the environment, such as low emission, low fuel consumption and eco-friendly engine, as well as compact and light weight engine design and great reliability for the operation. To achieve these wider requests from the market, the diesel engine development have to be applied in various simulation technologies, and investigated optimized design. In these situations, Niigata has developed and produced a lot of diesel engines for marine, power plant and rail car applications for long years. For modern high thermal efficiency engine, it is necessary to optimize the component design based on endurance and effective cooling technology to achieve a high performance and durability. Therefore, Niigata has promoted to improve simulation utilization for solving these complicated problems. At new engine development, Niigata has reasonably carried out simulation such as FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) to achieve shorten development period, compact and light weight engine design.
